Surf, sand and ...COW EYE DISSECTION!

----With sincere apologies to our multitude of widespread fans, here is a delayed post written by Logan over 3 months ago!---- =)

Aloha readers!
Sorry I have not been updating. I miss all of you (Mr. Hought if you are there I don't sponge any more, I surf!) A few days ago our friend Jason, he is a nurse at Dad's work, took us on a surfing trip, this was my second lesson. Unfortunately I was sick and I sat on the beach for 2 hours, but Jason was nice and said we could go again.

A few weeks ago, we dissected a cow eyeball with a lot of homeschool friends. It was really cool! I cut off the fat, took out the lens, looked at the optic nerve and fluid. I thought it was really awesome!
Plus, last week for a home school fieldtrip we got to swim with dolphins at Dolphin Quest in the Waikoloa Hilton. First they separated us into groups by age, then took my group to a grassy hill to learn about the dolphin family. They let us touch baleen from a whales mouth, lots and lots of shark teeth, a turtles shell with the turtle out of it, and the best part ... a polar bear skull. Then after sitting, and sitting, and more sitting we finally got in the water with the dolphins. First they taught us how to do lots of hand signals, then we fed a fish to Nimbus, our dolphin, and then for the grand finally all three jumped in the air then did a flip. We also got to touch him several times and put our hand above his blowhole. When he blew, we go 'dolphin snot' on us! After that we sat on a hill and had a picnic.

We had a blast when our good friends the Meier family visited us. There were here for almost 2 weeks and we packed in a lot of fun! We are so blessed to have such close friends and so thankful they came to visit!

Homeschooling is going great overall, but tomorrow is our last day and then summer break!
By the way we are coming to Oregon from June 21 through July 23. We will spend the first two weeks in Portland, make a quick trip to California, then spend the last two weeks in Bend. We'd love to see any body who wants to see us! You can email us at youngrussells@yahoo.com We really miss everyone and cant wait to see you and catch up!
